Hi folks
Matt - I saw your last post and figured I'd inflict another status update on
y'all ;-)
The PicoPIM gui prototype is complete. How do I commit it to CVS and where
should I put it? I'm interested in using CVS as a backup - so if my disk
buys the farm (shudder) I won't be out of a month's work. Also, I'd like
feedback and criticism of the code.
A project at work has me trying to network the Helio via its serial port.
Right now I'm trying to make a ppp connection between the Helio and a
laptop. I want to start pppd from pterm using the fitaly keyboard app since
the shell prompt via minicom won't be available. I've recompiled pgserver,
and am getting the following error when I try to start it:
# pgserver
SIGSEGV
Error#6/106
Can anyone tell me what this error means and what might be causing it?
With that avenue closed - I hacked inittab and added a call to a script that
starts pppd. pppd starts, gives an exit code of 0 and ... nothing happens
;-( I get no connection messages nor am I able to ping the Helio from the
laptop. Matt, I know you've worked with the serial code. Is a ppp
connection possible? Do any kind of serial port init parameters have to be
passed to the kernel via cmdline.c?
If I can get this working, we should be able to mount pc hard drives to the
Helio. Wouldn't it be convenient (at development time) to leave your code
on your pc, mount its hard drive to your Helio and run stuff from pterm? I
know the emulator allows this kind of thing, but this method would allow you
to use the actual MIPS processor without having to flash, re-flash,
re-re-flash and so on.
What do y'all think?
Mark
PS. If you don't want to wait until I get my prototype code in CVS, email
me and I'll send you a copy.
