So far I've always used ISO8859-15.
But I found helvetica14unicode.bdf in the meantime.
Looks like the way to go for me, I should switch to unicode alltogether. 
I'll look for some smaller unicode bdf's, though 14 seems to be just fine
for now.

Should I send in a tarball, so it could be placed in the client directory?
I expect to make some changes in the near future, maybe implement some
of the things I initially stripped from the c_client.
Haven't looked at the pgfx api yet for instance.
