Bounced from the Users List.. so posting to this forum for now..

I am planning on delivering a lecture-demonstration on Pharo Smalltalk in
specific and Smalltalk historically in our product

Through last 20 yrs the one premier product in the company has had
Smalltalk lineage from early Enfin days but as of today it is
re-engineered in Java / Javascript going ahead for external plugins.

I am planning to focus on Smalltalk and major thrust is Pharo as the
upcoming base for real Enterprise platform of the future.

*Any ideas *on what can be demoed and talked of from Pharo and overall
simple or complex leaves an indelible impression of awe in the minds of
many who actually perceive it as legacy..!.. many familiar but as the
enterprise world goes believe Java and C# is the platform for ages to come.

viz: concurrency as in Scheme / Closure / Hydra as in VW / something that
still hugely differentiates. *Any other inputs on the roadmap* that speaks
to its covering lost ground and compatability with "Legacy" World of Java /
C# not through SOA but simpler.

**********************************************

*Talk covers:*

* Few example patterns evolved in the product in Smalltalk now adorns the
Java code and serves well / better than various frameworks in JEE

* Smalltalk has lead the way for language evolution for decades with Java 8
now catching up with even features like closures et als. All the features /
capability that makes it still special..

* Javascript aka Live script was not Java and is more akin to Self
Smalltalk and how it has its right of way in the corporate world with Java
Rhino / Nashorn unwrapping it on the non browser side. Amber Smalltalk will
be demoed in this context.

* Bit of history and various dialects of Smalltalk

* Then come over through to Pharo and its demonstration.

  a) Need a perfect IDE setup that covers all demonstrable complex stuff:
Rossal / Moose as one, NB library as the other with Athens / SVG rendering,
MargritteDescription , Traits..? not aware of complex examples on it.

  b) Seaside demonstration..

... others..
