Inf fact our business cards have a QR Code in the back containing a VCard. :)

Also, we're working in an extension to our mobile app where the QR
acts as a "command" and the user carries a few QR codes in a keychain
like holder, saving them from typing some data or going through menus.

It's an usable and compatible way of encoding text graphically.

ps: There is also a way to encode a QR with a image/logo inside, but I
don't know how that works.
