Yes, it works for me on both Linux and Mac. These are my paths
Spur:

Cog:

Support/Pharo/vms/pharo-vm/Pharo.app/Contents/MacOS/pharo
Could it be that the OS security manager does not allow the starting?
Do you need to start it once by hand? I loaded the pharo spur vm with
the bash script, that migth be a difference
