It will be possible and is already doable but with no ui support.
You can use these messages:
iceRepository
        contentOfFileNamed: 'relative/path/from/git/repo/root’ commit: 
repository headCommit id
iceRepository 
        saveContent: ‘bla’ inWorkingCopyFile: 
‘relative/path/from/git/repo/root’.
It adds the file to the git index. You still need to commit the index with the 
message #commitIndexWithMessage:andParents: after the file is written. Also, 
take care to not write Pharo code after that as it will override your working 
copy.
