Look at Cuis. Juan Vuletich has implemented a beautiful rendering system beneath Morphic which can render fonts accurately under magnification and rotation. This is done in a classical BTTF Plugin, the VectorEnginePlugin. This video of his talk at Smalltalks 2025 demonstrates the system.
