Also see my other mail. As I said, we didn't optimize yet, we wanted to first get the model right. AFAIK it always redraws the complete editor even when only the cursor position changes. Text is drawn character by character, to be able to have sophisticated graphical annotations. It is usable for small methods, but noticeably slower than ParagraphEditor.
