With the autotools based build suite interp.c was gnuified if gawk was available, so applying it was pretty easy. I think it's just a bug with the new cmake based build system. The idea of smalltalk based gnuification is really good, so you (not me, because I'm not a vm developer :)) should consider adding it to VMMaker.
