Hello All, I think I have delivered the message that I intended to. Perhaps this thread has run it's course. I appreciate y'all taking the time to respond. The information you provided has been helpful. I have taken another look at the Smalltalk XY project. It pretty much does everything I need. I would be picking up around 12k lines of C code to maintain, but the code looks to be fairly clean and portable. I may start my little project with that. I don't get the impression there is very much interest in the things that I've mentioned here. Anyway, it may turn out to be kind of fun to tweak things in a Smalltalk VM ;-)
