Correcting this was easy:

Swazoo patch to allow Keep Alive (ab -k) over HTTP 1.0:

HTTPConnection>>getAndDispatchMessages
  ...
  (self task request isHttp10 and: [self task request isKeepAlive not])
        ifTrue: [self close].
  ...
