I use the VM's as built. A long time ago I tried to "copy" plugins from one place to another, but I could never get it to work (on MacOSX) - so, in my mind that has never been an approach to try anymore.
I'll try copying the Inria-built SSL plugin to the Eliot-built VM, and see what happens.
