I got it to work this way.

sudo apt-get download pharo-vm
sudo dpkg -i --ignore-depends openssl:i386 pharo-*

But this is a temporary work-around. It may be better to wait for a full 64bits aware pharo-vm.

I assume because i am on amd64 ubuntu 12.10 release, i would need some sort
of 32bit compatability packages ?
