Dear fellow truth-seekers

Let me remind you that TONIGHT, at 18.30 in Winstanley Lecture Theatre,
Trinity College, Chris Hughes (a philosopher at KCL) is going to talk
about Augustine's views about will, freedom, necessity and foreknowledge
(and whether they are correct). All are welcome.

I hope to see many of you there.

Wine, cheese, and deep insights are to be expected.

With philosophical greetings

TPS Committee

ABSTRACT.

At De Libero Arbitrio, III, 2, Evodius sketches an argument trying to
show that since God foreknows everything we'll do, none of what we'll do
is free. Augustine responds to the argument by developing his own
account of freedom of the will, and arguing that on that account, divine
foreknowledge is no threat to our freedom. I try to figure out just what
Augustine's response is, and to evaluate its cogency.
