A Dogma of Metaphysics:

Many contemporary metaphysics embrace the following dogma. ***There is a
uniquely best fundamental theory of the world. The grammar of this
theory is familiar to us: regular first-order logic (or perhaps some
extension of it). The fundamental ontology is provided via the theory's
first-order entities. The fundamental ideology is provided via the
theory's primitive predicates (and perhaps other aspects of the theory's
vocabulary).*** But we can, and should, reject this dogma.
