The philosophy of language reading group will run again this term. Meetings take place between 1pm and 2pm on Wednesdays in the Philosophy Board Room in the Raised Faculty Building.
The group consists of undergraduates, graduates and faculty who meet to discuss a pre-circulated journal article or chapter that has a philosophy of language or linguistics dimension. Sometimes we read published work and sometimes we read working papers by students and faculty. No previous knowledge of philosophy of language is assumed, and students and faculty from all departments are welcome to join, as well as to suggest papers/share their work. The first meeting of this term will take place on Wednesday May 2nd. We will read 'Group Assertion' by Jennifer Lackey (Erkenntnis 83:1 2018) https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs10670-016-9870-2 If you would like to be added to the email list and receive information about each week's reading, please email Lucy McDonald, [email protected]. (If you were on the list last term, you will remain on it.)
