Dear All, This week in The Claim of Reason reading group, we will be focusing on the chapters "Criteria and Skepticism" and "Natural and Conventional." These two chapters total about 30 pages, but if you are pressed for time, we would recommend privileging the "Criteria" chapter.
Attached is also a youtube link to a series of lectures delivered in memoriam of Cavell last year entitled "Why Does The Claim of Reason Matter?" The lecture by Juliet Floyd discussing "Natural and Conventional" is excellent, and we thought it could be a useful supplementary resource to share. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwpIhcP1Fqo4APEvLr-UNtOe_eF2UAi5U https://philartslit.files.wordpress.com/2019/08/schedulereadings_cavell.pdf Anyway, hope to see some of you there (Wednesday 5-6pm in the graduate common room as usual)!
