Dear all,
We hope you are keeping safe and well during this time. We are writing to let
you know about the Verstehen Colloquium, which will be meeting online on
consecutive Mondays over this vacation to discuss Husserl's The Crisis of
European Sciences and Transcendental Phenomenology.
This is a reading/discussion group continuing from the Dilthey Reading Group
that met last summer vacation. In general, we will be looking at readings from,
broadly speaking, the phenomenological and hermeneutic traditions. Our aim is
to recover ways of thinking about knowledge of human behaviour and systems
which have perhaps become obscure from the perspective of current "analytic"
philosophy of science, epistemology and moral philosophy.
We will be meeting next Monday 6th April at 2pm using Cisco Webex. The planned
schedule of readings is:
Monday 6th April Core reading: sections 33-41
Optional background reading: sections 5,
8, 9h, 14
Monday 13th April Reading: sections 44-55
Monday 20th April Reading: sections 57-64
To receive a Webex invitation for next Monday's meeting, or to join the mailing
list for further updates, please contact Sen (sb2276). Please also contact us
if you are having trouble accessing the text.
With best wishes,
Rosie Worsdale (CRASSH), Matt Bennett (Philosophy) and Sen Bhuvanendra
(Philosophy)
