Pardon me but perhaps you meant "mixing gamma (i.e. "gold code"/final release) with beta"? IMVHO, normally betas *are* upgrades of the even MORE raw and buggy alpha code... hence somewhat more stable. ... just to clarify (if I misunderstood you...)
