I used this to make a patch, and stuck it into the build process with the source RPM for gnome-pilot. Lo and behold, I'm sync'ing my Tungsten with Evolution in Phoebe3. I have no idea if this will be addressed in the 8.1 release (bugzilla scares me), but in the interim, if anyone's interested, I can send you the RPM's.
