hi everyone :)

Well once again ,boldly going into the beta world i got the iso's
burned them and confidently threw em in the cd tray hitting the reset ..
O man ..

First there is a bug report in bugzilla.redhat.com 84785
That should give a lil heads up on this.

I successfully installed all kinds of Linux versions,of course
RH 8 is the present OS and it installed without a glitch.

The problem is that when the cd or floppy boots after the RH welcome screen
and i type linux text, hit enter or any other ( i tried em all )
i got the "cant set the WP bit even in supervisor mode" error
and the whole thing dumps to screen .The only option is to reset the machine.

Note the logs show that the WP bit is successfully set on boot
with all kernels im using ..

Mar 9 07:05:02 ric kernel: Memory: 256200k/262144k available (1166k kernel code,
 5556k reserved, 428k data, 152k init, 0k highmem)
Mar 9 07:05:02 ric kernel: Checking if this processor honours the WP bit even
 in supervisor mode... Ok.

I tried several things.. tried it on another computer : works
checked the media , reports ok
Changed the uP chip just in case: same thing.
The uP is a cyrix II had one brand new inthe box so i switched.
Switched memory sticks , same thing... only thing unchanged is the mobo :)

Ok so is there any relevant test that can be done ?
Any trick i can try with the command line ( linux text --some -option ) ?

I tried using a 8.0 boot disk... starts the process but says disk in the cd tray
is not the right one .. ( of course it's the phobe 8.0.94 :)

At this stage im a bit clueless what i can try to install.

All relevant suggestions are welcomed :)
