Gods, no.

Red Hat *specifically decided* not to license MP3, because they're being
GPL purists.

I think this is both the more appropriate, and the more likely to be of
long term benefit in business terms, linux strategy.  The idea is to
make proprietary formats extinct, after all, with all their huge and
hidden associated costs.

Staying out of the tarpit of those costs is an excellent business
decision.
