If I remember my history correctly, Red Hat removed mp3 support at the
same time Thomson changed their website and removed the line that stated
that you can give away an app.  Taking a (admittedly quick) look at
http://www.mp3licensing.com I see nothing that backs up your statement.

Oh, I wasn't suggesting that Red Hat should ship it, just pointing out
that one didn't care about the GPL there are legal ways to play MP3s.
