Nevermind. I can just copy .gtkrc.mine to .gtkrc. Evolution gets both "halves" of its font preferences from .gtkrc under KDE, but it splits again when logged in under Gnome. Since Gnome's gtk1.2 preferences automatically picks up .gtkrc.mine, having this same info in both places fixes everything in both desktops.
