Here's another variation on the "scam" theme we've been hearing about. Coincidently, I had paid a large-ish (for me) bill using PayPal in the last few days, and so the possibility suggested in the email was entirely out of the question. I logged in to the PayPal site directly (not using the link in the email) and read their -- quite helpful -- "Protect Yourself from Fraudulent Emails" page (you get to it from a link on the left of their page once you've signed in). They said they always address users by their first and last name, and so greetings like "Dear PayPal user" were a give away.
Hope this protects someone... ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: "Msprinzen" <[email protected]> Date: Sun, 22 Feb 2004 21:55:12 +0100 Subject: Notification of PayPal Limited Account Access Dear PayPal user, We recently reviewed your account, and suspect that your PayPal account may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party.
