Hi Everyone -- I won a large lot of Youth's Companion magazines on eBay recently, and bid because one of the issues had advertising for Little Wonder records and Bubble Books in it. As I was looking through the other issues that came with the lot, I discovered three that might be of interest to those of you who collect Edison-related materials.
There is a two-page biographical article on Edison in the November 11, 1926 issue (complete with a photo of his boyhood home in Milan, a photo of him when he was 14, a photograph of him and his wife from 1926, a photograph of him at age 31 with one of his first phonographs, and photographs of seven of his inventions -- locomotive, the black box by which he discovered the radio spark, dynamo, the light bulb, the original sketch of the phonograph, electric motor). There are two other issues that have advertising for Edison products -- one from November 30, 1911 has an ad for an Edison phonograph, and another from April 18, 1918 has an ad for Edison records (Amberol Concert, Amberol and Standard). I have no idea whether any of these are of interest to any of you and thought I'd ask -- I'll put them up on eBay if I don't get nibbles here. I have no idea what a fair price would be, so please make an offer. And it was a nice excuse to wish you all a very happy holiday. Best, Merle www.littlewonderrecords.com
