Sorry folks, didn't mean for my question to Matt to go out to everyone.

Matt, I know it probably won't help convince your wife one way or the other,
but I can tell you that my earliest childhood memories of the concept of
'magic' consist almost solely of being a toddler and seeing my dad, uncle,
and aunt winding up my grandparents' old console excitedly. Seeing the
previously frozen memories washing across my dad's face as the rickety
machine belched forth its song made me see him (not to mention music itself)
in a whole different light, and I'm sure, fundamentally changed my
relationship with him as well. The lifelong love of
phonographagramophonalia the image fired in me has remained one of the
constant joys in my life through all fate's storms and otherwise. My
greatest regret is that I don't have enough space to truly 'collect,' as it
were, a number to hand down to my offspring, as you do now...

There's something very psychologically sound about the development of
children who a) see one or both of their parents HAPPY from time to time,
and b) learn by example from their parents how much peace, security, sense
of self, and sense of living a truly sacred life comes from validating one's
passions out loud.

That said, I sure am in need of a beat-up old Edison cylinder player,
something that can play 2- and 4-minute cylinders, that is mechanically and
sonically sound but not all that purty (read: functional but cheap!).
Anybody?

And lastly, to Matt, if I did end up buying one of your phonographs, I can
promise you I'd keep it until you were ready to buy it back. Oh, and most
importantly, to echo Loran, CONGRATULATIONS!

Warmest Regards,
Robert Wright
