I'd try mechanic's waterless hand cleaner(no pumice).  If it is painted
metal, a good washing with Fantastic or some other grease cutter might
work too.  Test a spot on different painted areas with a  cotton swab to
see if any color comes off though.

Hello All
I picked up this Victor needle display case which has darkened with age,

almost like the varnish sealer has yellowed. I obviously do not want to 
do anything to damage it, but do you think that the oil painting 
restoration techniques  will work? Its still a great piece, but would be

outstanding with "brighter, cleaner"  color. Any other reccomendations 
including leaving it alone are welcome.
