The Orthophonic VV-8-9 was only made for 3 years (1928-30). Out of some 4000 phonographs sold at auctions in recent years, and listed in the 2004 edition of Phonograph Auction Prices, (which should be out shortly after the first of the year), the only 8-9 was one sold on eBay in 2000 for $2,650. I am not sure if it was a crank or electric motor version. Baumbach's book shows production of 8,143 for the crank and only 994 for the electric. Ray Wilenzick

I haven't seen this model at any of the phono shows and don't know what a fair offer would be. The case is not too bad and has the common water stain on the top. It is the crank version and works great. Has anyone seen one of these models for sale? If so, what were they going for? I want to be fair to the seller and include some reference with my offer. Thanks and Happy Phono-ing!!!!! Ken Brekke _______________________________________________ Phono-l mailing list [email protected] http://t2.cwihosting.com/mailman/listinfo/phono-l_oldcrank.com
