Rob:
As long as you brought it up, I have good news about the new "Talking
Machine Compendium, Revised & Expanded 2nd Edition." Schiffer Publishing has
advised us that the long-awaited book should be at their facility on or about
June 9. We have standing orders for Schiffer to send quantities of the book
to us immediately upon receipt. This means that IF YOU HAVE ORDERED A COPY,
YOUR BOOK WILL BE SENT TO YOU DURING THE WEEK OF JUNE 13-17; as soon as we can
possibly get them in the mail. Thanks for your patience during this
extaordinarily long production period. We're sure you'll agree that it was
well worth
the wait!
OUR UNION SHOW DELEMMA:
Given the tentative June 9 date of Schiffer's receipt of the new book, there
was a very real possibility that we would have no copies for sale at the Union
show on June 11 and 12. We could not allow that to happen, so we have
arranged to have a small number of books AIR-FREIGHTED from the printer in the
Far
East. Although this drastic measure will add an $11.00 per book shipping cost
which we must absorb, we believe we owe it to our Union customers to have it
available - even at substantially reduced profit. Our larger concern though,
is that many of our valued (and beloved) mail-order customers will be attending
the show, and may quite naturally ask to take delivery of their copies from
this special air-freighted shipment.
OUR REQUEST (if you've already ordered the book AND you're going to Union):
Show customers will of course be paying full publisher's price for the
air-freighted books. If you've already purchased your copy of "The Talking
Machine
Compendium, Revised & Expanded 2nd Edition," you've already received a 10%
discount, so we respectfully and earnestly ask that you take delivery of your
copy from the regular shipment to be MAILED THE WEEK FOLLOWING UNION. To sell
the books at 10% discount PLUS incur an additional $11.00 per book shipping
cost
would make this enterprise untenable for us. We trust that our mail-order
customers will understand our situation, and would regard your cooperation as a
personal favor.
Thanks again for your patronage and patience!
