I still haven't figured that out yet about how many springs it has. I
started to take the top off last night while I was cleaning it, but didn't
want to go there yet as long as it is still working. I can only get 1 1/2
plays out of a full crank (about 28 full winds), so I guess it's a single.
Mine isn't decorated under the lid like Bob Johnson's unit is on his site.
So maybe even thoe the company made the one model, I guess for a price
difference they added different features. I have horizontal cardboard file
boxes for records all intact except the pull tab on the bottom box is
missing. This is what I am trying to find out about the unit. Not much known
about the phono but the cost is up there compared to other machines. My
reproducer doesn't have the word "MODERNOLA" on it either. It just has
"NO6". My lamp shade is not like the one pictured in the phono book, but it
is a real nice shade that gives it some class.

Does it have a single spring?
I'm wondering how hard it is to service the motor?

Hi Keith,
I had a Modernola that I sold a couple of years ago. A truly unusual
machine and very collectible. I doubt that you paid too much for it.
the price on these has really taken off. A good original one goes for
$3000+.
