Our small town has a Victorian Days weekend every summer. This year I
set up a phonograph display and played records and did a couple
presentations on the history of the phonograph. I set up 11 phonographs
- all external horns except an amberola 75 with a mix of disc and
cylinders. I had a lot of fun and most of the people stopping by had
never seen a cylinder record and didn't understand how a mechanical
phonograph worked. Some were surprised when the found out there was no
electricity powering them. I hope to be able to do it again next year
or for some other gathering.
