i was going to let this analogy slide by because it wasn't so hot, but
now i guess i'll say my piece.

this is a poor analogy. smoking is a definitive cause of cancer, which
is harmful. paypal, on the other hand, is not a definitive cause of
financial harm - although certainly there's risk that this can occur
without careful use...just like lots of things, like cooking breakfast
or playing a sport, or just going outside of your house.

i think i'll take a shot at casting a better pair of analogies...

"i've been driving a car for 30 years and have never worn my seatbelt,
but i've never gone through the windshield" is like "i've used paypal
for years, and i always leave lots of money in my account and regularly
try to do non-standard transactions and deal with shady sellers and
buyers, but i've never had a problem"

and

"i've been driving a car for 30 years and always wear my seatbelt, and
i've never gone through the windshield" is like "i've used paypal for
years, and i'm careful to not leave lots of money in my account nor
regularly try to do non-standard transactions nor deal with shady
sellers and buyers, and i've never had a problem"

just my 2 cents worth. please send it...via PayPal!
