I'm not sure if any research has been done on the subject, but I think the real problem with these old victrola's may be the original glue, especially if the machine is placed in a too small, insufficiently aerated room, the residents may be affected by the residual fumes, resulting in various hallucinations, in this case of flying nun's, ghost children and $5'000 + price tags! :-)
