I agree, Fred; to be honest, I think he's just a fruitcake who doesn't know any
better, and nothing anyone could say would help. But it would at least serve
my sense of duty to the truth and to justice to let him have it, whether it'd
change his thinking or not. Either way, entirely too many words have been
spent on the loser already, so from here out, I digress!

He may not be trying to rip anybody off. He might just be a lunatic. In
that case it's likely that nothing anyone says to him will change what he
thinks.

Personally, I'd give anything for confirmation that this guy read every
single word. Further, I'd love the opportunity to meet him face to face and
berate him for his dishonesty and arrogance. But then, I have this thing for
irresponsible people being held accountable for their actions... Maybe that's
just me.

My point is these comments are in a public forum for anyone to read and
it's not anonymous. I certainly would not want this guy to read the comments.
I have no idea who else might be reading them. Maybe it doesn't bother some
folks (shrug). I'll leave it at that.

The manual brake has different screw holes when compared to the
semi-automatic brake. I'm pretty sure the semi-automatic brake was
available in years your machine was made. It's possible that Victor put
tone arms with the shutoff stem on machines that still had the manual brake.
It could have been switched out by a previious owner too. Maybe? I have
a couple of machines with the semi-automatic brake and it seems to work most
of the time. There's nothing wrong with keeping the manual brake since it
appears to be original on your machine.

The VV XVI that I mentioned in an earlier post has the word "EXPORT" stenciled
on the under side of the motor board. What would be different about a
Victrola for export as apposed to one for domestic US sale?
Thanks,
Fred

All of you are forgetting that any antique is only worth whatever someone is
willing to pay at that moment and that he'll discover this on his own. If
he DOES get $9,000, then it has been you who where wrong. I understand you
getting intimidated by the extroadinarily overpriced cylinder, but did you
consider that it might have been a typo? Ah, gentlemen, please! - don't
sweat the small stuff.
