If anyone has additional information about these machines I would like to know. I'm told that Bob Baumbach know something of the history of them, but there is no reference to them in any of his books. RMV It turns out that there is currently an Art Deco exhibition at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. In that exhibition which is wonderful--there is a Victor Special in red and identical to that which is currently on eBay. Information given at the show indicates that 1500 of these machines were made at the time of the New York Worlds Fair of 1939.
If any of you are presently in San Francisco I would highly recommend the show. The show clearly explains the Art Deco designs seen on the Edison P1 and P2 reproducers and has some great radios of the 30s as you would expect. Of course, the highlight of the show for me was the Victor Special!! ---Art Heller From Bhhodges Thu Mar 25 16:06:22 2004 From: Bhhodges ([email protected]) Date: Sun Dec 24 13:10:37 2006 Subject: [Phono-L] parts needed Message-ID: <[email protected]> i need the back bracket, tone arm and reproducer for a us banner machine. bill From steve_noreen Sat Mar 27 01:11:04 2004 From: steve_noreen (Steven Medved) Date: Sun Dec 24 13:10:37 2006 Subject: [Phono-L] Edison Bell phono & Lambert Cylinder Message-ID: <[email protected]> Hi, Does anyone have any information about these?
