Subject: [Phono-L] Edison Business Phonograph Model C repair question
Message-ID: <[email protected]>

I recently didn't get my bid in on time to win the Edison Business Phonograph
Model C on eBay. Don't you just love "sniping?" Whoever "restoration-1"
the winner is, he has not answered a question I sent him. So, I now put the
question to this list.

The madrel has potmetal bearings on each end so that it revolves around a
steel tube. I have successfully reamed and machined the bearing surfaces in
preparation for brass sleeves. At the very end the potmetal had expanded and
completely fallen free. This will be replaced with an aluminum turning, buffed
shiny to resemble the nickeled mandrel. Thus the question is, "Has anyone
tried
this before? And, does my solution sound reasonable?"

Thanks for any help or suggestions,

Al
