I picked up the Columbia Period Phonograph with an electric motor and am trying to figure out how it is supposed to work. There is a series of gears and a switch that turns the motor on and off when the arm is moved. There is also a flexible shaft that runs off the motor drive and connects to the gearbox underneath the arm - is this supposed to feed the arm across the record instead of the grooves guiding it? How is it adjusted? Does anyone out there have one of these ?
