Greetings: In the book Caruso Records by well known Caruso authority John R. Bolig, he writes that the most interesting thing about the film My Cousin is that when Caruso performd Vesti la giubba from I Pagliacci "it very closely matches his 1907 recording of the aria. When the film and the recording are coordinated, one can almost sense that this was done on purpose."
Mr. Bolig also points out that My Cousin was released in the U.S. during the major influenza epidemic of 1918, and that being the case was not a commercial success, people having been advised not to congregate until the epidemic had subsided.
