Very charming, and from what I've read the procedure shown isn't all that 
inaccurate-  Melchior did make acoustic recordings, so he certainly knew how 
it was done! I think it was Gladys Rice who wrote that she had to duck under 
the horn during the orchestral passages to avoud blocking the sound.  Of 
course in the film you see a small studio ensemble, but you HEAR a full 
orchestra- typical Hollywood. They did the same in ballroom scenes- eight 
pieces on screen but 50 pieces on the soundtrack.
