I think it was Gladys Rice who wrote that she had to duck under the horn during the orchestral passages to avoud blocking the sound. Of course in the film you see a small studio ensemble, but you HEAR a full orchestra- typical Hollywood. They did the same in ballroom scenes- eight pieces on screen but 50 pieces on the soundtrack.
