So we're still no closer on finding out the exact stylus size to play PT's with, hmm? This info has simply GOT to be in someone's files somewhere. best, r. I can only use two clean unworn Victor PTs I own for comparison, but they seem best with a 2.8 mil stylus. Tried a 2.3 and got swish, the 4.0 gave me a bit more noise, but it too was decent, I think these were meant to be played with regular needles. AFAIK Victor (nor anyone else, but correct me if I'm wrong) at the time was offering special small point needles for these, unless you consider Tungstones, which were marketed simply for more permanent use on 78s period.
