They are not like a big store in one very important way: liability. In the
antiquephonograph area it is easy for us to see fraud, in the eyes of eBay as
long as their incomeis not affected they do not care. Your idea is wonderful,
there is only one problem, youcare and eBay doesn't, that is why they do not
have such a program.SteveRegarding eBay scams. Ebay is like a big store. If
they don't want to invest time and money for their customers safety why should
you or I spend our time to police their site? To protect a stranger from a
scam? Ebay has spent billions buying this are that, raising rates to sellers
and we wonder how to help them when they don't seem to be very interested!!!!
If more and more scam artist used this relatively un-policed site prices should
drop. Remember what eBay's cheer is, Caveat Emptor. I think a $$ reward for
reporting scams that can be substantiated would do the trick. Just for
fun,oldcranky

I also reported the Edison Home to Ebay. It is
important to provide Ebay with as much information as
possible. I reported 3 fake Ebay auctions just this
week. The most recent was an Amberola 75 in oak with
a buy it now of $600.00. I knew that I had seen the
pictures before and with a little research found them
on Mechantiques website which is owned by Martin
Roegnik. I contacted Marty and he confirmed that they
had indeed stolen his pictures and that he still owned
the machine and does not sell on Ebay. Ebay removed
the listing within 30 minutes of my reporting it.
