I think the idea of different topics is great. Not just phonographs, but phono-postcards, needle tins, any and all accessories, books, etc. BUT............I don't think it has to be done on a MONTHLY basis. If you want to bring up a subject, just DO IT. If nobody responds, so be it. If you don't LIKE a subject, don't respond. If you like a subject and don't want to respond now....keep it in your email and respond when you feel like it....later, next month, next year. In other words....I don't think we need to be formal and say, "This month's topic is...."
