Everybody, I just imagine that all of you have gone to the website http://cylinders.library.ucsb.edu/ and listened to some actual recordings of the forgotten old cylinders. In case there may be one person who hasn't, try it. Reminds me of my grandmother house.

I checked my Gadgets, Gizmos, & Gimmicks book. I do have the mahogany cabinet (figure 4-41) pictured in the book for a Victor IV. The top moulding that surrounds the machine is rather plain and flat. I don't have the other books to see another example of these cabinets. I thought it was odd that the top of the cabinet that I just got isn't 16" by 16" but rather 16" by 16 and 7/8". I will have to look for the other books you mentioned to see if the moulding that surrounds the machine is any different. These books have been on my wish list for awhile. I will have to try my Victor III on it and see how it looks. The shadow on the top of the cabinet looks as if the original moulding was squared off to the machine and had a bit of extra wood showing in the back. Thanks again for the reply. If anyone has one of these cabinets, I would love to see a picture of it. Just email me off list at [email protected] Ken ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, February 10, 2006 3:01 PM Subject: Re: [Phono-L] Cabinet That Matches question > If the dimensions to cite are outside measurements, I'd presume that your > cabinet was designed for a Victor "III." > > Photographs of various styles of the Cabinet That Matches (and some related > printed materials) can be found in "Antique Phonograph Accessories & > Contraptions" (Figures 4-53, 4-54, 4-64, 4-77), "Phonographica" (Figure 2-92), and > "Antique Phonograph Gadgets, Gizmos, & Gimmicks" (Figures 4-41, 4-42, 4-43).
