For many of you at this hour, your homes are filling with gurests and activity is picking up beyond the routine. However, if you're like me, you're visiting far from home and looking for ways to see the sights nearby. Such was the case yesterday, on a family outing in Indiana, as we stopped by an antique spot with items on consignment. Now, since I'm new to this, I'm learning as I go. Fortunately, I am able to tap the wealth of knowledge found here. I tried not to even look because shipping to Oregon would likely not be sensible. There it was, a nice shiney mahogony cabinet with new (looking) brass (?) hardward. It was a VVXVI Victrola, #17419B. Once again, to the newcomer, it looked tempting at what seemed to be a modest $365 price tag. Moreover, it stood next to a sign that read, "Everything Holiday Discounted, 40% Off!". Wow, everyone said, as if getting it home would even be affordable; I don't really know. Now, after reading recent accounts of letting "the great one" slip away, I am compelled to at least find out if in the next few days I'm in the area if I should go see it again, or simply put it out of my mind. For all I know the current owner could be on this list and would know the item by ser #. Any thoughts anyone?
