Out of concern for their seller rating and out of concern for the hobby, I
gently and helpfully (really!) advised a seller that the phonograph they were
listing as an original antique (their words) was actually a reproduction, etc.
Boy was that a mistake. He flamed me as per the following (misspellings and bad
grammar are original - you should see the auction wording!):

Dear doctor john; I have meet some people like you that realy do not know
what you are talking about, I will take the original out of the auction and
check this out more I do not want to hear from you again.

They did put the word 'Repo 50s' in the auction title, and they did remove
all the wording about it being original. They left in that it came from a
mansion estate sale. Funny hoe many of these questionable items on ebay come
from 'estate sales'.
Oh well, no more Mr. Nice Guy. I just can't stand the thought of people
getting ripped off. From the tone of the letter, I think he is a bad guy that
got caught cheating...

Message-ID: <177122.86561...@web83013.mail.mud.yahoo.com>

Me again. Has anyone got a couple of Fireside top plate screws? Condition isn't
too important. I just have an extra Fireside cabinet and a Fireside bedplate
with all the screws except the hinge screws, and I wanna ebay it. Or maybe
someone here wants it? I'll make a good price for a group member. No motor,
just base cabinet and top plate. Striping is nice, though 2/4 decal is worn
way. No carriage either.
In other news, the Vic IV I bought for a bargain price has a Vic III 19" horn.
Painted gold. With a dent. Anyone got a VIc IV horn available? I really don't
wanna go repro if I don't have to, I really want to make this machine a
showpiece. Any help or leads are appreciated. When I find a horn, the Vic III
horn will be available. I may have it repaired first, depends on cost.
Finally, I have an original Edison screw on crank that is about 20% rust (on
the shaft, mainly, and spots on the throw). If anyone wants it, it is $40 plus
shipping. Pics of any of these items are available. Email me off list. FINALLY
- I picked up a NICE Victrola XVI yesterdat, nice original finish, almost no
alligatoring at all, nice gold finish, minty turntable felt. Great machine. Has
anyone got a gold key for it? Trade for parts??
  Happy New Year to all!

Subject: [Phono-L] Blue Amberol British index wanted
In-Reply-To: <000301c66f4b$8ab92e60$6500a...@lap>
Message-ID: <261243.22446...@web35603.mail.mud.yahoo.com>

I'm looking for an online index or a data base file of
British Blue Amberols, particularly the 23000 series.

I have an excel file of the US BA's and it doesn't
include the British series.

Let me know if you know of an online source or have a
copy of the file that you can share with me.

Thanks and Happy New Year,
Dennis
