I've been to Istanbul years ago, but did not see any phonographs. I do have one interesting story-------- About 25 years ago I was contacted by some people who had a Graphophone AT they wanted fixed. I went to see it, the upper casting was pot-metal, thoroughly warped. It turned out the man's family was Turkish, rather well-to-do, and they had had a house right on the Bosphorus. The family phono had made its way over to the US with all the Turkish cylinders in marked boxes. I offered to fix the AT in exchange for some of the records, but I think my description of having to junk the casting and replace it must have scared them away --- they didn't want to throw away something - ANYTHING- from the family. Never hard from them again......... Tim Fabrizio phonophan PO Box 747 Henrietta, NY 14467

Some photos resembled that bar. There should be captions. First Meal was at Mo's Irish Pub (Tuesday night Board), Lunch on Wednesday was at Maders. The ones after Mo's Bill & Anna, Kurt etc, were at Safe House. Many folks had no idea what I was planning and I didn't want to give it away so we only had about 7 of us. And I'm not sure I got a photo of the group dancing to be able to get in. Safe House is a blast. (for those interested it's at _www.safe-house.com_ (http://www.safe-house.com) . BTW, note that we had TWO Kurt Naucks (Kurt IV - the guy you all know - and Kurt III, his dad). His sister came on Saturday.) Anyway, see separate email for slide show that non-AOLers can see. And, again, there should be captions. Steve ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
