On the Model O and the reducer rings that are made of iron Edison flashed these 
and did not use copper as he was cheap.  I have an early Victrola No 2 that is 
a different color of gold and has a protective coating, does any one else?  The 
content of the gold plating would be nice to know, but as Ron said (in his 
excellent reply) the formula does not seem to be out there.If you ever find out
