Jerry, Now you are taxing my knowledge! Let's see, 1955-59 had a 1498 cc engine with 72hp, 1959-1961 had a 1588 cc engine with 80 hp, and the Mark II had 1622 cc's and 86hp in 1962, the last year for the MGA. I do not know what the twin cam had.
So..., it might be a relatively even race, but I have a feeling the little German car would win! No all roiginal zono's to spare. (Always looking for more - and parts!) P.S. Any list member who would like to start collecting Zonophones, or just wants one machine, let me know. I have several machines for sale. They all have some repro parts, which is pretty much standard these days. They are back in storage from the Union show. There is a Concert, Concert Grand, and two, count'em two Grand Operas. I can get pictures, but it will take a little while. Jeff, How much hoursepower does the '57 have? DeeDee's Porsche has about 75hp. Do you want to race for Zonophones? Always overheated when driving in the summer and leaked rain in the winter. It was a beautiful car but a real pain in the A**. Now that we're talking about British antique cars I can mention my 1965 Morgan Plus 4. It's built like an antique phonograph and is just as much fun to fix! When I want to grease the front end I just step on a button on the floor and hot oil from the crankcase sprays the front end joints. Reminds me of the oil ports on an Edison disc machine! It was designed in 1936 and really hasn't changed much since then. Since it's British I would have to travel with my HMV 460 Lumiere in the passenger seat. Now THAT I'm not willing to do. There would be no room for anything but the Lumiere! And I can just see the Lumiere diaphraghm bouncing around on a rough road! Forget that!! The Morgan has stagecoach leaf springs in the rear! I started and ended my car collection with the Morgan. I put a pit in my garage and even built an extra garage for the car "collection" and then decided that phonographs were just as interesting and were more of a year round hobby. So that's where I am at present. But I love both the phonos and Morgan. ---Art Heller ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. _______________________________________________ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.oldcrank.org
