Yep, on all accounts, except for the just kidding part, altho my approach was intended as sarcasm and satire, and I'm sorry to have offended anyone. Just my free-speech opinion! I'll say that again: my own personal opinion.
i stopped patronizing the nauck years ago, after: - getting fed up with his endless proselytizing in his auction catalogs and online (what do religion or politics have to do with old records? nothing! and yet he slathers his catalogs with exhortations and preaching, and vicious political hit-pieces) - seeing how he stole from a large number of dedicated hobbyists, who volunteered LOTS of hard-found information and untold hours of data entry to a database. I forget the name of the database now, but nauck led an effort to create a compilation of all available matrix and artist info for all types of pre-1950 records. Lots of us put in much work, for the good of the hobby but also towards the promise of a free or cheap source of this information in a modern format. This was 12 years ago this month (I track it so easily because I was doing data entry in the hospital at the time of my first child's birth, and she turns 12 next week). The result? He hemmed and hawed and stalled and claimed technical difficulty - but it was working and in use, because his database associate would regularly use it to answer queries on the 78-L list for about a year after we'd completed the work. Then silence, but voila! The nauck conveniently (and yes, arrogantly) gets to use it for his business, and we get nothing. Both of which kinda suck. But, once more, it's my opinion and nothing more. We sometimes share warnings about shady dealings here, because this is unfortunately also part of our hobby. So the product may be great but the vendor not-so-great. I don't shop at wal-mart either.
